Marshall was a long time friend of Roger’s - they first met when Marshall attended Roger’s summer hockey camp in Port Hope in 1978. Marshall attended his first Roger Neilson's Coaches Clinic in 1996 and helped Roger run both the summer hockey camps and the coaches clinics for many years. Prior to his death, Roger asked Marshall and Larry Pearson if they would consider keeping the coaches clinic running as Roger felt it was a helpful forum for coaches to share ideas and enjoy the bond of coaching. Marshall is proud to have honoured Roger’s wish and has run the clinic since 2004.  

 

Marshall currently works with Hockey Canada in the National Teams Department as Manager of Canada’s National Para Hockey team.  In 2017, the team won Gold in the World Championships in PyeongChang, South Korea.  In 2018, the team settled for a Silver medal at PyeongChang Paralympic Games, falling to the USA in overtime.  The team had a similar fate at the 2019 World Championships in Ostrava, Czech Republic, with the USA battling back late in the game to take the Gold medal in overtime.  The next Olympic/Paralympic Games will be held in Beijing, China in 2022.

Roger was Larry’s Mentor from the time Roger taught and coached Larry during his high school career beginning in 1968, through decades of helping Roger with his summer hockey camps  (from 1977), the Roger Neilson’s Coaches Clinics (1988), and assisting with some NHL Training camps during Roger’s 25 year NHL coaching career. During high school, when Roger was teaching and coaching the Peterborough Petes, Larry was one of several youngsters Roger had keeping his innovative statistics and videoing the games for positive feedback and teaching sessions.

 

Because of Roger’s influence, Larry, like many others influenced by Roger, became a teacher and coach in order to give back and help develop youth. Roger’s influence is also the reason Larry has become a highly requested inspirational Team Builder and Leadership Developer. Roger’s hope was that if possible, Roger’s Coaches Clinic would continue in order that coaches xould continue sharing and helping develop each other and improving their abilities to  develop players at all levels, as well as allowing for coaching networks. Larry is very honoured to be able to help contribute to Roger’s legacy.

 

Larry is retired from teaching, but still continues to run inspirational team building and leadership development programs for High Performance teams from National, University/College, Provincial to youth teams, as well as Corporate, and Student Leadership teams. Larry operates in Peterborough at his Larryland Adventures property, but also travels extensively with his programs.  Larry has delivered programs to teams in Europe, USA, and throughout Canada.

Matt Bondaruk first met Roger Neilson in 1987 and they became good friends. Over the years Matt became involved in many of Rog’s adventures. He served as Camp Registrar for Roger Nelson’s Hockey Camp, was Assistant General Manager for the Lindsay Muskies Provincial Jr. ‘A’ hockey team (owned by Roger) and for the past 25 years has produced the Clinic Manual for the delegates who attend the Coaches Clinic. Matt has also been a speaker at the Hockey Chapels held at the clinic. Since Roger’s passing, Matt has assisted Marshall Starkman and Larry Pearson in continuing Roger's legacy.
